There are stories of coincidence and chance, of intersections and strange things told, and which is which and who only knows? And we generally say, "Well, if that was in a movie, I wouldn't believe it." - Magnolia

News: John Hillcoat and Christian Bale unite for "The Revenant"?

So I realize now that any sort of "news" I post on this blog will probably be infrequent and revolve around whatever I feel is important. So don't expect to see anything about Twilight or Michael Bay unless its ridiculous and worth noting just to give you another reason to despair the majority of (the human race) the movie industry.

That said, the director of The Proposition and The Road has a new movie!!! And Batman is rumored to be in it!!! This is definitely still up in the air though because IMDB doesn't even have a page for it yet. But, cinematical posted the news today and I have to say, it sounds pretty awesome.

According to them, The Revenant has been in the works for some time, trading hands across the board for years. Samuel L. Jackson was even attached at some point, and I'm so glad he's not anymore. Who can take him seriously anymore?
Anyways, the story is based on a novel that follows a man named Hugh Glass in 1822 who sets off into the western wilderness of America with a certain Captain Andrew Henry to do some profitable fur trapping. Just like every other American at that time, off driving beavers to extinction to make nice furry hats. But oh no! Glass gets mauled by a bear and is terribly injured. Henry tries to help him for a bit but then decides he can't do much off in the middle of nowhere but hire two mercenaries to guard Glass until he dies. Sad day. But he survives! And vows to hunt down the man who abandoned him.

Sweet. If you know anything about Hillcoat's movies, he doesn't bother sparing us grisly and brutal details so you can bet this will be dark and violent. Sounds like a great adventure/revenge tail to me, and of course, Bale would be perfect for the role of Glass. He already captured the dying, desperate human nature well in Rescue Dawn (as you can see above) and we know he goes to great lengths of self transformation to fit every part as well. I hope there's some awesome, dreary scenery too. You can't find a better excuse to harp on that side of the story with it being set in the early 1800's. Anyways, I'm already excited you guys. Crossing my fingers that this comes true and Shia Labeouf doesn't get thrown in somehow. He's always there, haunting any cool movie rumor......even if you think he's not, he's always there, waiting to ruin things......
